Welcome to Congaree Presbyterian Church’s web site. Congaree Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) was formed in the 1950’s in Cayce, SC. Following the Second World War Cayce emerged as a growing suburb adjacent to South Carolina’s capitol city Columbia, SC. Planted along the avenues in Cayce, Congaree Presbyterian Church sought to be a safe, warm, inviting place for families to grow spiritually in the Christian faith. Through the inspired leadership of two fine ministers, the Rev.’s Claude MacIntosh (1956-67) and Phillip Spencer (1967-1997) many members of the church grew as disciples of Jesus Christ. Though nearly fifty years has passed since the formation of the Church in 1953, Congaree continues to nurture disciples and to reach out to the community through various activities. Congaree is often mentioned as one of the warmest and friendliest churches people encounter. In these various groups people really care for one another. Another strength of Congaree is its Sunday morning worship which seeks to minister to all age groups with a traditional worship style (although special events are included in services each month ranging from contemporary to gospel). Congaree has much to offer the interested person who desires to be nurtured and to grow in the Christian faith.
